Dr. Pessoa is known for his caring, conservative and preventive approach to dentistry. He is an artist in the field of Cosmetic and Implant dentistry and has been the recipient of many honors and achievements throughout his dental career, including:

- American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry- Excellence in Cosmetic Dentistry
- The American Academy of Implant Dentistry - For Outstanding Achievement in Implant Dentistry

- Herbert K. Yee - Scholarship Award
- Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society member; National Academic Honors (top 5% of class)
- OKU Honor Society member; National Dental Honorary (top 12% of class)
- Dean’s Award- for 3rd Highest Scholarship in class
